How about replacing the Lude with an R32 Skyline, Their a collectable soon to be classic with loads a go, lovely looks, loads a buttons to push & their holding their value

I can think of a number of reasons not to have one as a daily drive....

Parts - Expensive

Insurance - Expensive, its cheaper to insure a Corvette

Chav Appeal - Although not a chav car, in fact they're great! Chavs aspire to them whereas a Prelude or Sierra won't be so much. I'm sure Chris doesn't want Chavs eyeing up his car(s) ;)

I would LOVE an R32.

As well as a lot of other cars.

But for the near future I think I will just have the 4i and a run-a-about.

I can't, my 200SX would cripple me if it wasn't for mate's favours and my own work on the labour front and my various contacts have meant I've usually been ok for parts too. :)

Simple answer Walley - winter is fast approaching, and what better to way to keep up with the Jones's, actually, just plain own the Jones's and desecrate the property of the Jones's (if you so wished) than by selling the Lude and buying a Hi Lux :D

In some cases yes, ie if you look at the 200SX, bang for buck, nothing beats it (appart from stuff you build yourself and other cars in crap condition) but I doubt I'll buy Jap again. I'm probably going to buy sensible next time due to house/wedding coming up in May, but next time I want and can afford a toy, I'm more likely to buy American. ;)

This is paining me a bit now.

I have been looking at Preludes on the net haven't I.

After raising the back end I am now a little more positive about the car. Since I really don't know what other car I would have right now it seems logical to run around in the Lude but then I think what's the point of keeping the car rough if I do.

I need to price it all up really.

4x 16" Rota wheels £450 + swapping tyres £20
Clear corner lights £30
Clear side repeaters £15
Drivers JDM door glass £50
New Aerial £20
Total: £585

Car would owe me around £1700 then.

Paint would still need doing, I'd want it blown over at least and the rear bumper repairing.

Not sure how much that would be... £300?

Idealy I'd like to get some better suspension on the car, Koni shocks and springs £365

Would like to get the back box changed for something a bit more tollerable £100

Getting to £2500 here

Respected induction kit £120

With a good clean up and engine bling I think the car would be worth at least £2500. But it would possibly take a bit longer to sell. But with those bits it would have most of the parts people want to stick on their Lude.

I know this is going to sound a bit silly but... whats the point?

Totalling all that up for circa £2500 and then selling the car for £2500, its a lot of effort just to break even isn't it? Plus If you're duplicating parts like changing the induction kit and the exhaust isn't that more money spent but with no chance of getting it back? Suppose you could sell them on eBay, but still..

Just sounds like a lot of work for no real use thats all. Besides, I know you'll do all that stuff, stand back, like the car and not want to sell it.

The point is I'd have a half decent car to drive round in and it wouldn't cost me for it.
