Paraphrasing (and not all that loosly):

"Yes we signed off the visuals, but as we hadn't seen the actual final clickable web-pages until today I think it'd be unfair to bill us for the two last-minute design revisions we've made since sign-off. It's hard to sign off visuals until you've seen how it all fits together on the final website itself."

WHAT DO YOU THINK SIGN OFF F****** IS?

PS, am I right in thinking LAW doesn't get spidered by Google? I hope not.

PPS: I know, this is a symptom of a flawed communication strategy that needs to be rectified at our end.

But seriously. WTF!

It's so very true.

Would that stuff fly when building a house?

Oh but we don't want to pay for the two revisions of the bathroom you have built since we signed off the blueprints, see it's hard to sign off the blueprints until we've seen the final house and, you know, lived in it for a bit.

I think it's a matter of educating them. There aren't perfect clients out there.

my view would be that they've signed off the visuals and so shove it! However, in future you could probbly make it clearer that putting pen to paper to sign of the visuals means that any change will/may incurr extra cost, especially if that phase has already been completed. IF they want somthing changing hat you've not already completed then you might entertain doing it for nothing or just a nominal admin fee. the other thing to consider is if you cut them slack on this one, do the work but make it clear that next time it will be charged fully then you migth get some repeat business, but what would I know? I'm just a flower arranger these days

There's so many variables to account for in a situation like this and really it comes down to the business model and the powah balance between agency and client.
