 that's the current whip.

Quick update. Sold the Mk2 16v, and can now be found going round the nordschleife as a mental track car (lived up to it's MAD reg plate after all!) Insurance on the jetta was the same as the corrado, and I decided I had too much spare time and money so obviously bought the corrado.

She needs a lot of work, but I have a shed full of spares now (literally) so we'll get there. Just built up a brand new front end (all chassis parts, subframe, bushes, cross member, suspension, G60 brakes etc etc) and it's Dark Burgundy Pearl which is a real nice colour.

Uni wise, stuff is ok. Start Year 2 of MSport in about 3 weeks, failed my electronics (aka witchcraft) module last year, but got 96% on the retake so it's all good.

Kicking it in the o-town ghetto for a few more weeks before I can move into my new motorsport house in October.

So, how is everybody?

Jon aka Prote aka Scrote aka the whipping boy

Ah yes, you got your monster truck at last. I guess kerbs are no problem now? (old prelude joke :D)

So what's been cracking? does Daws still look 12? And has the Yeti bought a scooby?!

I did some work with a lambo GT3 team earlier this year, that was kinda cool.

a lack of mechanical skills and a cocking great loan would be somewhat prohibitive in the quest for a uni-based motorsports quest.

where do you go scrote?

Ohhh I could tell you stories about Tech 9 that would make your head spin.

Like the time at Knock Hill in April when they blew an engine, so hired a Gallardo for the day from a local supercar dealer and swapped the engines out.

Yes, that's right. They swapped the engines (GT3 spec is std engines you see)

For those who don't know what this means:

Removing the 4wd because GT3 doesn't allow it's use,
Grafting on all the RWD bellhousing and gearbox to a road going engine,
disconnect stuff like aircon etc which wouldn't be needed,
re-wire and replumb everything associated with a 5L V8.

Sweet moses... can you IMAGINE it?! Apparently they finished about 6am the next morning... now THAT's an engine swap

Yes Dan told me that very story!

If I remember correctly they wanted to hire a car from a dealer but they didn't have any spare cars in. The only car they had in was a car that had been sold to a customer I think. I believe the dealer was told to name his price and did very well out of it. Thing is, AFAIK the ecu's datalog everything so when it goes in for it's first service it will have been getting full throttle launches and rev limiter gear changes from new

this is true...if they used the ECU from the customer car!

either way, the mileometer will be 5, and the engine will need a 20,000 service!
